Domain Management
Domain management, or domain name management, refers to the ongoing tasks of keeping a personal or corporate domain (or domains) stable, secure, and able to support related websites.
GetaSite’s domain management services give businesses an extremely reliable and cost-effective way to route end users to Internet applications.
How does a domain name work?A domain name is your website name. A domain name is an address where Internet users can access your website. A domain name is for finding and identifying computers on the Internet. Computers use IP addresses, which are a series of numbers. However, it is difficult for humans to remember strings of numbers. Because of this, domain names were developed and used to identify entities on the Internet rather than using IP addresses.
A domain name can be any combination of letters and numbers and in combination with the various domain name extensions, such as .com, .net, .org, .us, .io, and more.
Domain names must be registered before you can use them. Every domain name is unique. No two websites can have the same domain name. If someone types in www.yourdomain.com, it will go to your website and no one else’s.
What are nameservers and DNS?
Once the domain of your choice is registered, we will set up the domain pointers to the nameserver and DNS.
The DNS translates domain names to IP addresses so browsers can load Internet resources. Each device connected to the Internet has a unique IP address that other machines use to find the device. DNS servers eliminate the need for humans to memorize IP addresses such as 192.168.252.3
